Eating Raw Eggs? Yuck!

So it was my husband's 39th birthday last week. I asked him what I could make for his special birthday dinner. Lobster?...no, steak on the barbie?....no. All he wanted was a simple Italian meal of pasta and a Caesar Salad - from scratch.
I shuddered to think I would have to injest raw egg, (one of the ingredients that goes into a caesar salad dressing).
Pregnant or not, it can be harmful to eat raw egg. So I found this recipe that I adapted from the Epicurious website. Switch up the egg for mayonnaise - after all mayonnaise is made from egg and oil (2 ingredients found in a classic caesar salad dressing).
Here is the recipe, you get all the taste of the authentic Caesar Salad but without the danger of raw egg. Happy Eating!...oh and you might want to pop a few breath mints after your meal - this one's nice and garlicky.

An Even Greater Caesar Salad - adapted from Bon Apétit

3 garlic cloves
3/4 cup mayonnaise
4 anchovy fillets, drained
2 tablespoons + 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dijon mustard

Directions:

1. Mince 3 garlic cloves in food processor, add mayonnaise, anchovies, 2 tablespoons
Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, worcestershire sauce and dijon mustard.
2. Process to blend.
3. Transfer to bowl and season with salt & pepper.

Just Pretend Your Audience is Naked!

Haven't we all heard these words before when faced with having to speak in front of an audience or go live on camera? Does it help? Not in my case it doesn't....
I created a YouTube video demonstrating the benefits of the Deluxe Shopping Cart Cover, (part of my product line for Binksy & Bobo), because every time I go into the Grocery Store, I get asked about it.
This simple video looks easier than done, it was so difficult speaking in front of the camera, it took about 20 takes!!
Thanks to my brother who has his own video editing company Vidwerk, he made a 20-take segment look seamless.
Thanks Simon!

Petticoat Creek

There is a phenomenal conservation area in Pickering, Ontario called Petticoat Creek. A few of us moms from the South Leaside Monday Group and our kids all made the 15 minute trek just east of Toronto to check out its best feature, the 1.5 acre swimming pool that mimics a huge pond.
The kids had a fantastic go of it, splashing and playing around in the water.
Here are some pics of the beautiful day.

The event was part of the South Leaside Monday Group social calendar. If you care to join this group please visit the South Leaside Monday Group website.

Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres

Food looking like it belongs at a coctail party. This is what my meal preparation for mini Munchie has been over the past couple of days.
I'm sure if you have small children you know how hard it is to get them to eat anything. If they are anything like my little guy they would only eat bagels and cream cheese, crackers and mac and cheese (otherwise known as the White Diet).
Although mini Munchie loves fruit (and the occasional broccoli spear slathered in hummus) it is hard to get him to eat more of a balanced diet.
Problem solved! Get yourself a melon baller and toothpicks. I made cute little balls out of cucumber, plums anything soft, finished them off with toothpicks, and presto we had a vegetable devouring boy on our hands.
